SENSE (Self Employed Nutritionists’ Support and Enlightenment) is the original network of professional nutrition consultants who work on a self employed basis. It was established in 1996 and aims to help and promote self-help of all self employed or freelance nutritionists and/or those with interests in the general area of food and nutrition. Members have a wealth of skills and experience.

Usually one of these meetings is held jointly with another related organization eg FDG (Freelance Dietitians’ Group) or NII (Nutritionists in Industry). Each meeting contains some element of ‘enlightenment’ i.e. discussion of topical nutrition issues, and some element of ‘support’ i.e. advice which is relevant to all those who are self-employed.

SENSE also aims to provide an electronic networking service to its members and members are encouraged to seek information, advice and enlist the help of other SENSE members to give to clients an even more comprehensive service than they could as individuals.

A register of members gives contact details of members and lists details of their expertise. The register is updated annually and circulated to members to promote networking.
